I got Scottie because Dresden, my Ragdoll, needed a companion. I wasn’t able to find another Ragdoll, but I read about Maine Coons and thought one would be a good fit.
I found a breeder nearby and asked about kittens. She had some available, so I went to see them. She brought them all out for me to choose from.
Among them was a black-and-white kitten. I knew he was the one.
I picked him up, and he gently bit my finger. I didn’t mind.

He had long fur, a beautiful white ruff around his neck, and big white paws that he would later grow into. Even then, he wasn’t as small as some of the other kittens I’d had. At his last weigh-in, Scottie weighed 22 pounds. He certainly grew into those paws.

He came home and became best buddies with Dresden—the companion I had hoped to find.

If you’ve wondered about the cat whose face appears here on A Cozy Creative Life, that’s Scottie. This is how Scottie became part of my life.
