A Cozy Creative Life

Two very different hearts caught my attention during my trip to Las Vegas.

Outside Fashion Show Mall, I stopped to photograph Heartfullness, a sculpture by Katy Boynton. Its rusty metal surface and impressive scale caught my eye, but I especially loved its three-dimensional form and the negative space—the openings that allowed light to pass through it.

The other heart was on the wall at a lobster restaurant in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. It was made of buoys arranged into a heart shape, with colors that reminded me of a lobster. Such a different use of materials, but just as much reason to stop and look.

I went closer to take a photograph, and one of the employees asked if they could help me.

“No, I’m just taking a photo, if that’s okay,” I said.

Unfortunately, I can’t eat lobster because of an allergy. But I could still enjoy the art.
